Football Up-date

On Wednesday 9th February, Whitehall School’s U11 football team had an away fixture against Laxton Junior School. They were lucky enough to play two matches on this occasion and impressed all with their tremendous spirit and stamina with no substitutions being used in either game. Unfortunately, Whitehall’s 7 players were the losing side on both occasions, but showed great promise. Harriet debuted for the school and battled hard, winning tackles and headers in defence. It is also important to note George’s bravery as goalkeeper, keeping the scores to 2-0 and 3-0 to Laxton. Once again Mr McKinley and the school are proud of the football team who continue to work hard and show great sportsmanship. Thanks must also go to Mrs Harper who kindly offered to transport the team to the fixture.

On Friday 11th February, the U11 football team took part in the ISA East 5-a-side Football Tournament, held at Stoke College in Suffolk. The team had a great day out and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There were some gallant displays from the players taking part and the team showed they have developed their skills considerably since the beginning of the season, putting together some superb passes. Unfortunately, the team were knocked out in the first phase of the knockout stage after playing their 5 games during the preliminary rounds. James stood out in attack, scoring two goals and Charlie showed some acrobatic skill in goal, keeping out a great number of shots. Whitehall School is proud of each and every one of the players. Thanks must go to Mrs Heylen and Mrs Harper for providing transport and encouragement on the day.
